Denise Patrick is a seasoned transportation professional with more than 30 years of experience including public transportation - bus and rail, accident investigation, transportation regulatory compliance, private livery service, airport operations, flight operations, and transportation subject matter expert.
After 24 years at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), Dr. Patrick retired in 2019 from the position of Safety Manager. She currently consults as a researcher and subject matter expert in public transportation safety and is an annuitant lecturer for the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) at San Jose State University (SJSU).
With a passion for training, Ms. Patrick earned a Ph.D. in Education specializing in Global Training and Development from Northcentral University and is proud to be an MTI alumna class of 2009 - graduating with both a Master of Science Degree in Transportation Management and a Graduate Certificate in Transportation Security Management.
Professional certifications include World Safety Organization (WSO) – Certified Safety & Security Director (CSSD); Federal Transit Administration - Transit Safety & Security Program (TSSP, bus & rail); Cal OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Safety & Health; Cal OES - California Certified Emergency Management Specialist; and FEMA Emergency Management Professionals Program – Basic Academy Instructor.
