Lt. Brian K. Spears has been with the San Jose Police Department since 1997. He currently serves as the Unit Commander for the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). SIU is assigned to the Office of the Chief of Police. The Unit is composed of the Criminal Intelligence Detail, the Dignitary Protection Detail, and the Vice Administration Unit.
Prior to receiving a promotion, Brian served as the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Commander as well as the Child Exploit Detail Supervisor. In addition, Brian is a former sworn member of the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force and has hosted various law enforcement symposiums on child exploitation. Brian has served as a detective in Homicide, Assault, and Financial Crimes.
